Making Tank cover with mesh
2008/05/12 09:46
Recently I lost joculator angel because he jumped out of my tank.
Before that accident, I thought
I would make the tank cover but I could not do it for my laziness. After lost my precious, I decided to make
for this to avoid other jumping accident.
I searched RC forum and found a useful linkhttp://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showt ··· %2Bcover
This is so nice but I could not find the source of mesh and frame in this,
So I searched other forum and found that I could make this with mesh net for ponding and Window frame in Home depot
http://michiganreefers.com/forums/showt ··· %3D24897
http://www.rareclownfish.com/forums/f32 ··· post4552
I asked our club member who lives in Texas (kenzo0979) to send items (Thanks kenze~
)
The Materials : mesh net
This is mesh net I used
http://www.gardeners.com/pond%20netting ··· Ccp.html

This is 1/2inch mesh I bought. It is very thin and size is proper. (compare the size to red lighter)
I concerned about my gobies but other fish can not jump any longer I believe..

I cut the mesh enough size bigger than framework. and fixed it in frame with spline and spline tool.
(this hand is my wife. she is more meticulous than I
)

This is very easy with spline tool. I think I can use the profile instead of this. Profile also have a kind of spline like this.

I can fill spline at the corner part with easy like this. It is a nice frame kit.. I tried to make the mesh net more tight.

After finishing spline work, All I need to do is just cutting remains~!!!!
)

I completed this. look at the picture. very clean and easy~!!!

This is the final picture after setting this in my tank. I do not need to worry about my fishes' jumping.
I am very satisfied..

At first, I concerned about lighting interference but I think this can be ignored..the mesh is very thin and does not make any shadow..
